I know it has to be around here somewhere...missing horn wire.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to the missing horn wire?

Horn hasn't worked since I bought it, and don't find any loose wires

Would love to get this working again...

thanks in advance,
manny

Most likely it is the brass ring not contacting the the brass post in the column. I use a spent .22 shell now to fix mine. You will need to rent a steering wheel puller, dont try to bang on the steering shaft as it will bulge out.

Copy...The way I fix this to take a small flat blade around the edge of the brass ring and raise it a little bit and slip some paper gasket under the brass ring. It has worn itself down and not making contact with the 11 oclock post.

Here is a better picture of the Brass Ring and my pointer finger is what makes contact to sound the horn. I just clean them with some fine grit sandpaper.

Got the horn to working. I used a .22 shell to make the contact to the steering wheel. I found this on Yotatech and like it better then how I used to fix my horns. I have it listed on my 88 4Runners build thread for more details about getting the horn to work on the first page.

Run a couple jumper wires straight to the horn and make sure it still works. Before you tear into anything
my dads factory horn stoped working we˟bypassed the whole thing by pulling a double horn outta a 93 Chrysler car and running hot wire into the cab to a new switch and back out to the horn it works great and scares the heck outta people( its loud). Just make sure you use a heavy gage wire horns draw alota juice

Terry and Stetson, I really appreciate the update...but I'm afraid I didn't provide enough information in my initial post.

The wire I'm looking for is at the horn itself (behind the front grill).
Judging from the horn, it seems I'm looking for an barrel type connection.

Sorry for not providing more details.

Seems the 91 4runner only has a single horn on the passenger side (behind the grill).

Judging from the horn, I'm looking for a barrel connector wire.

Looking for some info on the source of the missing wire...location?

It has to be around here somewhere

It has been a while since I have worked on the 89-95, but if I recall right the wire comes out of the harness that is attached to the blinker assembly. May be possible that someone cut the wire off of the harness.

If you cant find it, try the bone yard and look for the wiring color and see where it comes from, but I am sure it is in the blinker harness.

My schematics show a Green-White wire from the horn relay to the horn. On mine, it is in the same wiring bundle as the right turn-signal.

Barrel connectors are not automotive; if you have one on the horn wire it is likely someone has been doing some modifications or repairs.
