Exclamation Transmission swap gone wrong (maybe), need help!

Hi, heres the scoop. I have a 88 3.0 auto, the trans went bad so I found a a340h from a 92. My friends shop did the swap. when I got it back it shift through all gears but it revs like 1000 rpms higher than it used to and the engine is always working hard to keep the car moving. on the freeway if i wanna go 65 im pushing 4000-4200 rpms. It revs about 1000 rmps higher than it used to. I changed the coolant sensor and made sure the thermo works. the trans got a new filter and fluids when it was swapped. I was thinking maybe its the TPS? maybe a 92 TPS is different from the 88s? If anyone has a suggestions or anything please let me know, Thanks guys.

Redacted. I do not know enough about auto trannies, so could very well have been wrong.

Wonder if there is to much air in the torque converter.
Make sure the kickdown cable is not over tentioned.
The linkage between 1st and 2nd gen 4R might be different, Check the length on the posission selector on the old and new trans, You may need to swap then over.

All A340h are the same except for the speed sensor, 87-91 are cable 92-95 electric and possible selector levers.

Best way to tell is to start looking at parts diagrams I guess. I think there are the ECMs are different between those years. Not sure about all the sensors and whatnot... Talk to a tranny shop I supppose. They'll be able to point you in the right direction..

I think I'd look at swapping tranny sensors before anything else...

What is your stall speed? What is line pressure? Is overdrive working? Are there any trouble codes?

What did your friend's shop say?
Was the trans from the donor 92 a proven good trans?

Sounds like fluid or torque converter to me.

used transmissions are a crap shoot in my opinion. I have had two good used transmission s and one that was a waste of time to install.

My car is at a tranny shop now. I'll let you know in a few more days if you should go there.

Have him take a look and tell you if it' s alost cause or if you could make it work still.

Kings Transmission, got a lot of good reviews online.... of course most of the reviews said "he's a really nice guy and now my car works".. so they aren't very technically inclined customers... lol.

but, from what i've gathered a manual swap isn't all that quick or easy. Search the forum, there are a few threads that discuss it.
