Questions before diving into fuel pump replacement

Hey all, so i just finished my 87 Pickup restoration and *bam* truck won't start. All troubleshooting points to the fuel pump.

So I bought a replacement denso pump from Napa (P72165) and it looks... not very original. I thought it would just plug in, but this one has a connector that plugs into the pump which has two wire ends that need to be spliced. That doesn't seem right.

Do any of you have a picture of an OEM pump? I want plug n play, not hack n play.

Have you tested the COR? Fuses? If fuel pump doesn't get power, it doesn't work. I always test all controls first before I condemn the actual part. If something goes bad, I need to know why, so I can fix that as well and not have recurring issues.

Ran power direct to the pump, knew it was the problem.

Decided just to dive in anyway. Much to my chagrin, I was not the first person in there. Someone had done there own hack job with some cheap-o pump and half-assed electrical connections.
So I installed the new denso pump from napa and cleaned up the wiring and made it all pretty. Slapped it together, jumped the diagnostic, heard the pump, then tried the key. Pickup runs flawlessly now. Much easier to lift the bed than try to drop the tank.
