Need ideas for durable and easy to clean floor lining for 82 Toyota pickup front cab!
I want to cover the front cab floor of my 82 Toyota pickup with some thick, durable and easy to clean rubber stuff and was wondering if anyone has ideas for how to do this as cheaply as possible?
Here are a few possible solutions and I would appreciate your feedback and ideas...
1) Stock Interiors sells this http://tinyurl.com/kqa5k2t for $115 but its for the 84 to 88 and my truck is an 82. Does anyone know how different the floors are because maybe I could easily modify that one to fit mine?
2) JC Whitney sells this one http://tinyurl.com/kf4xnqo but its over $200 and the reviews for it say it is NOT molded to the floor like it looks like it is in the photo.
3) Someone mentioned using Dynamat for sound proofing and then brush/roll on a bed liner (Monstaliner, Rhino, Herculiner, etc.). I called Dynamat and the guy said he heard about someone doing that but they couldn't guarantee it of course. Have you heard of anyone doing that? How did it look? Were the seams of the Dynamat visible through the bed liner stuff?
4) What do you think about buying a thick hunk of easy-to-clean rubber and lay it in the sun on a super hot summer day to make it pliable and then lay it in the front cab and trim to fit? Would that work? Where would I find that rubber?
Any other ideas?
Thanks
Steve

scroll down a bit, theres a 77-83 molded vynil option, i am considering it but i wish i could see one installed, not sure of quality or fitment.

1/2" rubber horse stall mat is what I plan to use on my 84 its $7 per ft. My parents used outdoor rugs with the same rubber mat used for backing on the rugs and they molded right to the floors after 2 or 3 weeks

I could see it conforming to the irregularities on a relatively flat floor but do you think that stuff would "relax" enough to conform to the floor of a truck?

I searched all over the place but couldn't find anything for an 82 - thank you!

It will conform to the tranny hump.and the hump where the seat mounts perfectly after about a month but but the other little lumps kinda disappear under it if you have any problems with it conforming just score the back of it with a knife

I've used the Duplicolor brand spray-in stuff on a few projects, and given about five coats, it's pretty bulletproof.
You'll actually want to put the sound deadening material over the bedliner. The matting is relatively soft, and will flex. If paint is over that, it will crack and fall off.
