1989 V6 5speed: The clutch pedal sticks to the floor while coming from a stop in first and reverse, but at a much more prevalent consistency in first. The clutch is a month old and performs perfectly. The slave is brand new as well, and the clutch fluid reservoir hasn't moved at all, and if it has, the change is negligible and minimal. Is this a symptom of a dying/dead master cylinder or is it a signal of another issue?

There is also a constant wetness on the driver side floorboard underneath the rubber mat I've got.

Thanks guys for any information! It's a common topic, I know, but I'm mainly just looking for confirmation. I FIRMLY believe in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Hahaha

I forgot to mention..the pedal reacts perfectly whenever shifting 2-5.

The wetness is usually caused by the clutch master cylinder leaking resivoir. I just had to replace one today. Is the spring under the dash hooked to the pedal and the clutch resivoir pin?

I have the same exact problem with my 94 3.0. Everything is attached correctly and the pedal functions normally outside of 1st and reverse. When the pedal does stick (1 out of every 3 starts+-) it remains about halfway depressed and I'm unable to get in or out of gear. I have to use the top of my foot to pull the pedal back out then engage clutch again. Fluid is full and no noticeable leaks. The truck allegedly didn't drive for a year or so before I just got it.
Any and all info would be gratefully appreciated!

I would suggest replacing the master cylinder if all other aspects of the clutch/pedal system check out okay. I replaced the MC and bled the clutch and the pedal moves like a dream.

Thanks, I'll start heading in that direction. I bled the system today and a bunch of ungodly fluid came out. Unfortunately there was no change. Anybody have any luck with or recommend a rebuild kit?

I haven't any personal experience with rebuild kits, but based on what opinions I have read, I would suggest against them. The price of a new MC is well worth the smooth clutch pedal and assurance of a long clutch life. Rebuilds offer a fix, but can't promise longevity a replacement does, especially if you stick with OEM parts, like Aisin.
