gasket or sealer? Thermostat housing neck

Do you know if the thermostat housing area has a gasket or if the one that wraps around the actual thermostat is the only one needed. Its a 3vze 95 4runner 4wd. The kit came with the new oring type gasket that wraps the thermostat but I was wondering if the actual housing needed something.

I will have to pull it and make sure I have the Jiggle Valve on the top, thanks for that link.
The ring/seal that came with the rebuild kit didn't fit like the original. It was larger in diameter so I reused the old one. It looked to be in pretty good condition and if it leaks it is pretty easy to get to and replace.
