Fuelgauge shows 1/4 after 100 mi from full

Hi my 22re 1985 Motorhome fuel gauge moves to quick showing 1/4 tank after only 100 mi from full tank(MPG appx 15MPG should be 6.6 gal per 100 mi. with 17 gal tank the gauge should read above half ).I replaced the tank(due to leak) and am now unsure of the proper orientation of the sender float. Does anyone have a diagram showing this? Or maybe a picture of a pristine(untouched) tank top? I tried the EPC but I could not get my truck slides to come up, other models work though, strange. The FSM doesn't show what I need either. Thanks

I found this but wrong year 1993, would this be accurate to my 1985?

when its at 1/4 how much gas do you put in?

are you sure its a gauge problem and not another problem?

hows it run? any gas leaks?

the sending unit can pretty much only go in one way.

these things do fail all the time from old age.
