As I sit here in gear...yea jus sitting here.

Truck: 88 2.4 4X4 Xtra cab
My truck feels like it is engaging into gear forward and reverse but it will not move. This started yesterday after not driving for about a week.
It didn't pull at all til it warmed up yesterday, this transmission has shown no signs of a problem until then.
After warm pulled fine with no slipping at all.
Parked it for a few hours and when I started it back up it did it again but went into gear after only about 2 minutes of running.
Went down the road and it wouldn't shift out of first then, my dash lights (dummy lights, dlx model) all lit up.
Parked the truck now this morning it's not pulling at all again.
Any suggestions? I have the fluid and filter to do the change if I can get it to the shop. Any help would be appreciated as this is my daily driver.
Thanks.

So... After sitting for about 30mins running and not pulling in gear I shifted the xcase shifter (manual hubs unlocked) and it went right into gear?? Put it back in 2hi and it went right along. My shifter had a bunch of play on the inside. The bolt that holds the shifter has apparently caused a bunch of slop so, I made a bushing to go in there and tighten it up. After that it also went into gear fine. I'm still nervous about driving it so I left it parked until tomorrow. Will anyone help me here? Could there be an electrical issue? What else should I check?
