trany?

LOoking for a tranny for my 86
22re pick
up 4x4 can anyone tell me if its the same as a 4runner 22r trans

Transmission codes are listed on your drivers door placard(thing in the door with the VIN#). it is the second part of the "ATM" eg "A/TM A01A/w55" is a w55 transmission.

I would assume it's marked on the transmission somewhere for your donor if it's already been removed from it's vehicle. But I don't know where off hand.

Update: It may or may not still have its factory part number sticker, no sticker and you'll most likely have to match it up by photo.

marlincrawler has photos to compare with.

x2 that where I look too. It can be tricky with the w56's with the years and carb or efi thing. You pretty much have to compare top or front shift for the transfer case to match style of tranny.

Thanks guys will a forward shift w56c go in place of the w56b top shift that's in my truck? With no modifications i know gears are the same but will it all work?
