G52 to w56 swap...

I have an 84 with a forward shift g52, I found a forward shift w56(I believe). Will this swap without any mods? Namely the shifter locations? The lengths on the tranny's are both the same, they're both original forward shifts...I don't want to hack my truck up...

I've done the swap. It was complete bolt in on mine, except I put in a W56B, which has a top shift case so I had to enlarge the shifter opening.

The only difference between the two that I could tell, was the W56 shifted better and tighter, but my G52 was worn out in the shifter seat and ball.

I've had a couple 84's. i always prefered the g52 to the w56. I found the g52 shifted better, smoother, and took abuse alot better. they also have a longer shifter, and is further forward then the w56 top shifts i drove. I liked the throw of the shifter better in the g52
