Need Help - Location of Speed Sensor Pictures Inside

I searched and searched, I think I found it, but I just need to ask just in case..

Is this the speed sensor on my 1993 Toyota 4Runner?

Thank you.

You guys are the best! Thank you...

I've searched because my speedometer, odometer, and cruise control are not working, so hopefully if I replace this it should work?... Thanks

Many folks are able to solve your symptoms with a new VSS (it solved mine). Alas, the VSS is not cheap. There is a test procedure, but it's a little involved, so a straight swap with a new part may be the way to go.

I bought one for $12 but it's for the "manual trannny" oops...
So I think this the right part:

The Previa one will NOT work in your 4Runner. You need one from an Automatic 4Runner.

I believe RockAuto carries them, if you don't want to get a quality one from Toyota

Ok... I just typed in the part # on eBay.com? But I'm a newbie at this so I'll take your word for it...

Though when I went to the Australia site, and the Chinese site, they have them listed for the Toyota Hilux, Previa, Truck, 4runner.. With the same part# 83181-35051?

Hmm....well, that would be news to me. The previa ones I have always dealt with have a screw in fitting on the top. But if they are selling that part number, perhaps just their listing is incorrect? Either way, as long as the part numbers match, it could fit a Buick for all you would care

Wow... So upon further investigation... Either I'm crazy or somebody please help me.. I went to RockAuto...

And for the hell of it, I looked up the part for a 1994 Toyota Previa AWD and voila.... Part #5S4892?...83181-35051

Then I wanted to do some further investigation and I looked for. 1992 4runner 4x4 automatic.... And voila.... Part #5S4892??? 83181-35051???

So can they be really different?

From my research in the last vss thread, it wouldn't suprise me one bit if that part also fit a buick.

Yeah seems pretty conclusive, same part numbers no difference.

Well I did some more investigation.. I called oreillys auto parts and bothered the poor person for the speed sensor for my 1993 4runner automatic 4x4, she got me a part # oreillys part #13-0225 (83181-35051)

So then I asked for the 1994 Toyota Previa awd speed sensor... Bam... Oreillys part
#13-0225 (83181-35051)

So I asked if it was the same part, that it was exactly the same?

At RockAuto, if you click on the part number it will list all the applications. The 4runner, pickup, and previa are all listed.

At this dealership, just searching the part number will give you all the applications.

You need to be as careful as cheappc when you shop for a speed sensor; Toyota has a whole bunch of them (see: eBay) and it isn't obvious to me where which on is used.

No Buicks, though.

Well I ordered the Previa one, brand new shipped for only $65 bucks.. I guess we will see if it fixes my issues (or if it works for that matter), I took the 4runner through 250 miles into the desert.. And the O/D started flashing, then it wouldn't shift into 4th gear.. Then the check engine light came on.. They all went away but I really want my cruise controll..

Did a google search, it all led back to the vss1 sensor, so I'm hoping that it would fix all those issues..
