Weird starting issue with my 82 22r.. little help would be nice

Lately my little 82 has been having strange starting issues. Example: If the truck sits all night and I get in and start it it fires right up. It takes a bit to get warmed up and I need to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running. Once it is up and running it idles and runs fine. After I pull out and drive say 10 miles and shut it off for at least a 1/2 hour and then get in and try to start it it will crank and crank and not turn over. It takes at least 2 minutes of off and on cranking to finally get it to fire. This scenario happens every time I do this. If I start it and drive it 10 miles and shut it off and then 5 minutes later get in and start it it will fire right up on the first crank. The truck has recently had a full tune up and the filter changed. This starting problem is continues.
I am thinking something is going on in the carb or fuel pump or the battery or the igniter. I post this thread hoping someone with a carbbed 22r has seen or heard this scenario.

i can officially rule out the igniter.
Anyone think this sounds like the fuel pump?

Do you have a manual to the truck? Check to see how the choke is functioning. Two pumps of the pedal engages the cold start and opens a flap in your carb, giving more air and this a richer mixture for starting. You can pull the air filter and try this. Pump the fuel twice and fire it up. The flap in the carb should be pretty close to being fully open. As it warms up and slowly close.
