A/T shifts hard to 2nd

There's a slight jerk when my tranny shifts to 2nd. Otherwise it's smooth. I can feel the rpm's drop a little when the tranny shifts but then there's this jerk that follows. This jerk seems stronger when gradually accelerating, and almost non-existent when accelerating harder.

I've checked the fluid level and it's fine. Is there a problem or is this normal?

Is this a change from how it used to shift, or is this a new vehicle to you?

Ok, checked the fluid level again when hot and the level is below both hot notch marks. I guess it needs more fluid. Hopefully that'll fix the hard shifts.

TechWrench: Yes this is a new vehicle for me.

I had the same problem with mine when I first got it--flush the tranny, and it might help.

Mine has always shifted hard from day 1. Just thought, "well it's a truck".
