Bad Bad Sand

OK so this past weekend I went dow to my coast house in Port Aransas TX and did a little fishing, well on my way back from my favorite spot I happened to get stuck. I happened to get really really stuck.... I will post pictures tomorrow in the general tech section.... well it was in silty sand and had a little salt water too. well i was sitting for 6 hours and i was wondering what i can do to get it really really clean and how to prevent rust on my 4Runner.... thanks

That really sucks. My 4runner hasn't been broken in on the Texas beach yet but hopefully soon she will be. What kind of fishing did you do? Did you catch anything?

I would advise you to thoroughly wash the undercarriage. That should get all the salt off. When you were down there you might have seen a place at the car wash to do it. You'll just have to get a little wet but it's worth it.

Have Fun

Just a thought, but perhaps you might want to give a shot of grease to all your u-joints/ball joints-whatever you have fittings for.

You also might want to rinse again at home. I know I can NEVER get all the mud out from under my Tacoma. There is always some that hides in the hard-to-get places, no matter how many times I rinse uderneath.

Find a small freshwater creek and go wheeling in it. The deeper the better that will wash everything out. Then grease everything.
