I am in the process of replacing the head on my 22re and messed up a mating surface on the block for the timing chain cover (long story). Its minor, and my dad and I are going to try to seal it up with RTV, our mechanic friend said that it should be fine. But we are worried that if it doesnt work, which would cause coolant to get in the oil, that the engine will eventually blow and I will need to find a new engine. after this ordeal, we figured it would be easiest to have someone else install a new engine if this one goes kaput. Does anyone know of any places near Portland, Oregon that would do something like this? I am in St. Helens, for anyone local that knows where that is.

 

Have you considered pulling the engine now and taking it into a machine shop to be fixed/resurfaced?
