newbie/build advice. what am i missing?

so i have 85 toyota sfa i bought it to get into the wheelin scene and it did its job well but now i want more (its a curse) so i plan to put 6" springs with 2" blocks in back and 2" shackles in front then do a high steer conversion and weld the rear. and i came across a brand new set of 35" super swampers for trade to get a motor running so i plan on running those.

Is there anything that would be wise for me to do that im missing?

why do you want it so high? 4" lift will clear 35's easily...5.29 gears

Blocks

6" springs and 2" blocks in the back?? You shouldn't need 8" of lift for 35s...

with lockers and you'll be good to go.

keep the center of gravity as low as possible.

rule of thumb, for every inch you go up go wider one inch to keep factory engineered stability.

I would just do 3-4" springs with 6" shackles. That would give you ~4-5" of lift. Which is enough to clear 35s. Remember your goal should be big tires, low lift. Tires give you clearance, low lift keeps your center of gravity down for safer wheeling. All the 6-8" lift trucks are very limited in what they can do. Straight line mudding, they're great. Technical crawling or wheeling, they're useless... In my opinion...

Look at most, if not all, of the crawling competition trucks. 40"+ tires, very little lift...

Move the front end forward a couple inches and you can run 35's at stock height with some trimming if you wanted to. The way these trucks are set up from the factory you could lift one 8'' with 35's and still rub the firewall if it actually articulated, they're just too far back for big tires in the factory location.

I have a stock height 81 pu and have run 34s with no rub. I tried 35s but they would rub under strong articulation. I use slightly outset wheels. 35s actually ride well but like I said they will give you a touch from time to time.

Good point. That bottom corner is always a trouble spot. Plus you get better approach angle by moving it forward.
