speeometer needle vibrates, does not bounce.

So I finally sucked it up and splurged on a new speedometer drive gear and a new 90 inch cable from napa. swaped them into my 89 pickup 4x4 22re and lo and behold my speedo comes to life. Now here's the problem: for two days the speedo worked great, no jumping no vibrations. This morning on my commute to work the needle vibrates and stops at 60mph and just vibrates there. When I slow down the needle comes down with the mph and vibrates less and less. WHAT GIVES? I am at my wits end pulled the cable out, lubed it up and stuck it back in. In the meantime untill i go to work anyone have any fancy ideas what else the issue could be?

Have you had the needle off in the past? I had mine off to paint it and I found after I put it back on it would stick in place. Turned out that I had it pressed on too hard. I backed it off just slightly and I got free range of motion back.

No I have never had the needle off in the past, I have the cluster out and tried pulling the needle off but that was a no go. I removed the speedometer assy itself and noticed a bunch of brown grease that was kinda tacky. I decided just to oil it up and some of the mechanical bits on the inside.
