350 with manual trans

Ok, before someone comes out with the 'search, search, search' comment, I would like to say I already have and learned a bit, but it's real hard to sift through hundreds of threads to find what I need. Anyhow, long story short, I'm picking up another truck today. It's a '92 pickup with a 350, 350 trans, 205 transfer setup. I really hate automatics, and a manul would be much more in my favor.

So, from what I've gathered, an r150 or r151 trans out of a v6 or turbo is the strongest trans, and a 4cyl transfer is stronger than the v6, is this correct? This is the route I want to take. I don't know how strong the v8 is, but it runs on regular fuel and doesn't sound over built, but it is a very healthy engine that has a little bit of work done to it. I don't want to roast the tires, I just don't want an automatic trans. I don't beat on my truck too hard off road these days, and its mostly mud anyhow.

Thanks for any help

Go with the nv4500 if you can afford it. That said I'm getting parts together for a swap myself. I'm using the sm465 but that's because I already have a couple. I don't really have the spare cash for the 4500 but it's the better tranny and has gearing options. If you are for sure going with yota parts then you are on the right track. The 4500 will take more punishment though. Plus it's cheap and easy to twin stick that 205.
