89 to 86 swap
When I swap this motor in what issues with electronics will have to be addressed? Injectors, ecu wiring harness. Can I just swap injectors out of the 86 and go? What sensors might need swapped?

I use to own a 88 model with the 22re I replaced my motor with a 94 22re an everything was the same. Some models do have a few different plugins but that's it. You should be fine ole buddy. If anything there may be a sensor here an there that may need swapped

Strip it down and start putting your parts back on. Use your intake, your ECM, your dist., your emissions, your sensors, etc., unless the newer parts are plug n play.
I just put an '86 motor in my '88 and had to use different injector wires and plugs but only because the harness on it had been cut, you could have your injectors rebuilt and put em in the new motor if they're different. Other than some vacuum plug idle things on the valve cover and the oil press. sensor everything else was the same.
If you have A/C you might need that bracket from your engine too... for some reason they can be different from year to year.

I can have a motor out in about 4-6 hours if the harness is attached, trying to disconnect everything is such a pain and a waste of time and accomplishes absolutely nothing in my book. Do it after it's out if you have to but in car is a real pita.
