Brand New To Me 86 4Runner and Intro

Hey guys been ghosting round here for a a lil while and this is a great site with loads of info so thanks to all the contributors and mods that make somthing like this happen an keep rollin. I just got my first 4runner a couple days ago and luvin it. She's a pretty clean 86 5 speed 22RE pretty much entire truck is bone stock, orig paint an almost zero rust
originaly from arizona and has spent the last 4 years in S. Fl with the second owner

I am currently prepping her for a move up to Oklahoma for work ie changing all fluids, greasing everything up, bleeding clutch an brakes, pads an shoes and whatever else you guys may recommend, about a 1500 mile one way trip.

I have a set of add-a-leafs commin from summit tomorow to fix about the only real issue ive seen so far which is the chronic S.B.S. (Saggin Booty Syndrome) She's on 31s now once I get working again will be doing about a 3-4" lift with 33s and most likely a SAS (missed by 1 year but couldnt pass up the rest of the truck). Main use is DD and weekend huntin fishin gettin to that real good spot kinda truck altho after creeping around this site that rock crawlin looks pretty cool (oh God its starting already)

heres some outside pics got some interior pics commin tomorow. I also built a removable sleeping platform an will post that up later as well

Thanks. Heres some pix of the sleeping platform. I looked at a bunch on here an elsewere and "borrowed" from a few ideas to suit my needs and budget. I could have kept the seats and tweaked this set up to keep them in but its just me an the dog for now and I dont like most people so I dont really need the back seats so they came out plus I like the deeper storage I get on the frontside.

I measured the back out and decided on a 6' long platform with a hinge at 4' and 39" wide that just fits inside the wheel wells. I just used a 4x8 sheet of 5/8th plywood cut at 39" longways, a cut at 72" across, another at 48" across and this gave me the 48x39 and a 24x39 plus an extra 24x39 and a 6'x9" extra (Lowes will do up to 5 straight cuts for free so you dont havta break out the circular saw and deal with the saw dust). I used 2 heavy duty gate hinges and thru bolted with T-nuts to connect the two pieces. For the feet I used 4 10" long 1" dia black piping and flanges. I thru bolted the flanges and just threaded in the feet. Doing it this way I can easly unscrew the legs and lay the platform flat on the floor to fit a larger item and am only giving up about 1" of clearance thats why I decided to go with only 39" wide and not go to the rollbar or cut it out to fit from side to side. Wrapped her in some indoor outdoor carpet stapled it down and shot the bottom black. On the 24" side since I removed the rear seats i used some angle iron drilled and bolted to the bottom seats holes then had some tubing bent up to form a hoop and welded it to the angle iron. I used a piece from the 6'x9" piece to make a backboard and thru bolted to the hoop. Right now I am just using 2 ratchet straps to hold it to the 4 tiedowns but will probly do a turnbuckle setup later altho the straps are doing a fine job and its really quick to take in and out.

Couple of notes: after I test fitted it I had to take about 1" off the front corners to clear the roof and fold all the way back( forgot to take in account the curve of the roof an measured to the center) So if your doing the same just take anutha inch off the front piece and save the hassle. I am only 5'8" and all torso and I set this perfect to were I sit when driving and the wood comes all the way to the seat about mid back so If your taller make sure you make the adjustments to put the seat were you want it, Altho you can do the same and just have the front folded back when your driving and fold it bak down when you need to use it, up to you.

Thx Mud good lookin truck I like the red/black combo. I really wish my my paint was like really faded or peeling so it wouldn't hurt when I breack out the rattle cans LOL. The white looks pretty good but just aint gunna fly so im tossed up between some OD green or a standard camo job
