K&N vs S&B for 3VZE; which one?

I have a 93 4Runner 3.0 and am looking into getting a new intake set up. I know the hp gains are extremely minimal but it's the improved throttle response I'm after. I've read a bit about the "ISR mod" but I don't think I'm up for any real serious tinkering. Plus I'll be getting a nice sized Amazon gift card that I can use to buy a new unit. From what I've read, the K&N seems to get mixed reviews. Some love it, others hate it:

Amazon Amazon

The one I haven't really heard much about is the S&B:

Amazon Amazon

I think the S&B looks like it would be better (it has the box around the filter) and it's cheaper to boot. Has anyone used either of these intakes? How are they? Is there a better option out there? Thanks for any help!

Save your money, IMO. Do the deck plate mod (or just remove the elbow into the air box) and stick with a stock filter.

The money you save will come in handy for some other part you'll need down the road.
IMO there more show then go.

Deck plate mod is for the 3.4

I believe you mean the ISR mod. Basically take some 3" air ducting, bend it, take it to an exhaust shop, have them bend a 3" tube the same length and shape. test fit it, and drill the holes for the vacuum. done.

Oops, in my speed reading I did not see the 3.0 so maybe the deck plate does not apply....anywho, spend the Amazon card on something else.

you have an amazon gift card? buy a CB radio, antenna, SWR meter, and PA horn... you'll get more fun out of that anyway.

Don't waste your money on an intake for the 3.0L, it's the air flow sensor and it's tiny square opening that's the issue, not any of the components replace with any aftermarket intake; yes, an ISR will improve throttle response, but it won't do anything for actual power. Opening up your exhaust with a 2.5" pipe and high flow muffler (Magnaflow, Flowmaster, etc.) will give you much more bang for your buck than an intake.

If you want it, I have an ISR tube I'm not using since my 3.4 swap, PM me if you're interested (I'm thinking $20).

So I didn't wind up getting an Amazon gift card; it wan American Express. I will be getting OME suspension components instead. Thank you all for your input!
