I've got a 95 4runner with the factory RS3000 security system. I just programmed a key FOB which was easy enough and works great for keyless entry. But what I can't figure out is how to disable the horn honking when I unlock and lock doors. I've searched various threads and haven't been able to find how to do this specifically on my 95. It's driving me nuts. The box with the alarm settings is under the drivers seat but I see no where on that to silence the horn chirp upon lock or unlock. Thanks for any help with this....

 

Does anyone know? I spoke with the dealer and they seem to think they are going to charge me $50 to reprogram the ECU to get it to stop which only takes them 10 minutes... I've looked all over the interwebs and still can't find an answer to this. I thought for sure someone else would have had this same problem.

 

95 4runner did not have the rs3000 alarm. That came out in 96. You should have the TVSS system. Try searching for that instead. Not sure if its programmable or not.

 

Thanks j2the-e! I do have the TVSS alarm and all it was is the horn defeat switch. It needs to be turned to on and I had it off. I just looked it quickly before and seen horn and off and thought that it would turn the horn off. Al it does now when I lock/unlock the doors is flash the lights which is what I wanted....
