What emissions stuff do I need to keep?

I'm in the process of installing a new Weber carb on my 80 4x4 pickup. There are no legal requirements here in Moab.

I've removed the EGR valve and modulator and blocked off the port on the intake with the supplied plate, but what should I do about the port on the block?

There is a coolant line that used to control the choke. (?) Should I plumb it to flow or is there a better idea?

Obviously I need to keep the vacuum advance for the dizzy, but I'd like to remove as many unnecessary vacuum lines as I can. Are there any that I need to keep in order for this beast to run its best?

What about the charcoal canister? Needed or not?

I'm amazed at how complicated the emissions crap was in 1980 and this thing still runs after 32 years. The EGR was completely clogged and the the secondary on the stock carb was disconnected. This explains why I had to pull Vail Pass in 2nd gear 35mph empty. Anyway, with a little advice, I'll be able to have this back together and better then ever.

Several places sell the block off plate for the block LC Engineering and yotashop.com. I have a 38 weber on my 84 20r/22r hybrid and I run the dist. open, no ports blocked.
