Hi I've got a 92 toyota pickup with the 3vze and it will run fine but if I just slightly press the gas pedal it will start to miss, when driving it will start bucking. I can completely let off the gas pedal no matter what gear I am in and it doesn't do it and I can also floor it in any gear without it acting up.

I don't get it. Runs great if I put my foot in it but if I'm barely holding the gas pedal, for example trying to hold my speed, it will miss and cause the truck to buck.

Any ideas??? Its really starting to annoy me. Thanks!

 

Could be a vacuum leak or one of the many sensors playing up, but I'd be checking you vac lines first

 

How many miles, manual or automatic and if any, what maintenance has been done?

 

its got 280,000 miles, manual, cap and rotor replaced as well as plugs. new mass airflow sensor, new coolant temp sensor, thats about it

 

What brand plugs did you use denso's, ngk's, ?. It could be many possibilities.
Dirty throttle body, bad plug wire/wires, dirty air filter, vacuum leak, maybe a stored code, and that's only a few.
I would download FSM www.ncttora.com/fsm/ as this will help you with diagnosis.

 

im not sure what kind of plugs i bought. plug wires r as old as can be so it could use new ones

 

Get some plug wires on there. Mine ran HORRIBLY before I replaced them. Hold them in your hands and flex them around checking them for cracks etc. Even if it's not 100% of your problem, chances are if they're as bad as mine were they are arcing all over the place while you're driving around.... My problem was worse after warmed up when the wires were bad.

 

ya it could probably use them. ill see about getting some new ones today. it seems like if the plug wires were bad the truck would run crappy ALL the time. like i said, if i put my foot in it , at any time, the truck runs great. very frustrating

 

Well when my plug wires were shot it was more of a low rpm/off the line thing. At full throttle while moving it was fine.

It is frustrating. I can't wait til I get mine fixed! If I do soon, I'll let you know what it was.

 

Pull back on the reins and hold his head up when he starts to buck. He cant buck with his head up.

 

my guess is tps is out of adjustment

 

Yes, this could be true also as I just gave a really short easy list to start with.
I'm wondering what plugs he installed and maybe gap is off on one or more.

 

ok so swapped out the plug wires and where you plug the coil wire into the coil, it has a little corrosion inside so i did my best to sand and clean it. put everything back together and if i try real hard i can still get it to buck and jump a little but even now its better than it was, like WAY better. so keep cleaning to connection? would it be worth it to replace the coil?
