I have been experiencing some issues regarding the starting of my Toyota Hilux 1984 Extra Cab with 3Y petrol motor... I was told, it could be my fuel pump, so I went out and purchased one for $110 this afternoon, finding it was not the cause of my truck having trouble kicking over, sometimes it will kick first go, then other times, not. It does eventually kick over, but it has become an annoyance. I replaced the carby with a new one, still the problem, I have changed the leads, plugs, distributor cap, and censor as it is advisable, when putting in new points. The only thing I haven't done, is replace the rotor button... which I will do tomorrow... Is there any suggestions that may help me in this situation ?.

 

I had to look up what the 3Y engine is, a 2.0 liter displacement.

I would say that the bulk of the members here are from the USA and we (the US market) did not get that engine during that year.

I would say try another world market like South Africa, they might some information for you for your engine
