Question 2 door 4runner general information

Hello folks,

I am new here and I recently purchased a 2dr 1990 4runner with 3.0 and a 5spd. I bought it knowing it was quite rare. In my endeavors of maintaining a relatively flawless truck (minus the 260k on the clock) I have stumbled across a few things that have my head spinning. First off, when doing the brakes I found out the hard way that the truck utilizes land cruiser brakes from the same and nearly surrounding years. Further down the road I found that the throttle position sensor is the same. So here I am, about to embark on another fun filled adventure that many know as a clutch. Before I tear into the truck, buy a clutch, and go through the routine I am wondering if this is the same as everything else I have come across. This is an attempt at best to save myself hours (possibly days if the parts have to be ordered) and money to do the job once.

I am well versed in the ability to do the job myself. I have a lift and all the necessary tools in the shop to do it. I just need to knock it out as quickly as possible.

I apologize for the novel, but I can't afford to leave my wife stranded without a vehicle (she is a school teacher, kids depend on her).

I am also looking for any other parts knowledge about these often rare vehicles. (I am mad for not buying the shell of a 2 dr I saw at the salvage yard.) I just need another year out of the drive train before I swap it out for something a little beefier.

Thank you all so much in advance...

and, nice to meet ya!!!

the brakes must have been something that someone put on to upgrade...there is no reason they would be different

Just curious, What were you going to do with the shell of another 4runner?, did the previous owner cut the one you have off?

Wait a minute, does your 4runner look like this? 2nd Gen 2 door 90' 4runner:

Or the removal shell 1st Gen 2 door 84'-89'?

Mine is a 2nd gen 2door... I had found a complete body minus suspension, drivetrain, and interior at the junk yard... Bummed that I didn't snag it up because it made it's way to the crusher...
