1986 Toyota pick up tranny problems
Okay so this is probably not going to sound the best because I'm doing out the voice off my phone because it's going slow. my 1986 Toyota pick up lost first and second gear I don't believe they blew out because I had heard no grinding they just lost connection and act as if they're in neutral they go into the first and second gear slots on the shift boot. It's weird I never experienced this although I have not been with the five speed for too long my father knows a few things and he says this does not make sense the front main seal I believe it's starting to leak also the transmission after an hours of downtime was still warm and much warmer than the oil pan. It just doesn't make sense because third fourth fifth and reverse work like a dime. This isn't the most thorough question or description if you need any more answers please feel free to ask. And the engine and transmission has recently been rebuilt and each have under 2000 miles

I wouldn't think clutch since 1st & 2nd would engage easier with a bad clutch than 3, 4, 5th. If the trans has recently been rebuilt, and your certain that the clutch is ok(just in case) then I would lean towards internal issues with trans. You don't have to have grinding for a trans to go out. If it broke a shaft, there would just be an aggressive rubbing nose. Maybe...
I'm just offering suggestions to your awesome question. My trans recently started acting funny as well. I will be starting a thread on it soon...

it has fluid in the cylinder and when i hold it all the way in it doesent move at all so i would say it disengages the idiot i bought it from had no dope in the trans so i topped it off. could it be air in the line because the guy he owed money to put a plug in the clutch cylinider an brake cylinder i found and took them out it worked fine for a while then started actiing up thinking thats what it could be.
