Upgraded steering?

I am wondering how much I can lift my 1985 pickup before I need to upgrade my steering? Can anyone help me or give me some pointers? Please and thank you.

If you go 3" you can do high steer which replaces the crappy push pull style steering you truck came with. This is about the 100th time I have said this-converting to high steer is one of the best handling mods you can do to improve the driveability of a 79-85 truck.

I understand that if I lift my truck over 3 inches I need to upgrade my steering. What im trying to figure out is what is the best way to upgrade my steering because I would like to lift my truck 4-6 inches.

High steer. It's good for 4-6" at least.
