The 2.4 (22R) should bolt in. As far as the gear box, do you mean transmission ?, if so any transmission from 84 - 88 will work.

As far as tires go, tire size depends on whether you have a lift or are trimming the fenders for larger tires to fit. If you run large tires you will also have to regear for the larger tires.

I'm assuming he means the 2.2l diesel and he wants to put in the 2.4l diesel.

Can't help you out though we don't get those cool trucks in the US. They probably use the same bell housing though just like our petrol counterparts here in the states.

I think the 2.4 diesel is a direct bolt up in our trucks though.

Most times I wouldn't say this but post over on Pirate 4x4, they are less likely to flame somebody with a diesel question.

Keep in mind that the 84 and up transmissions are 4 inches longer than L. Series transmissions

so do you have a 1l or a 2l engine?? i believe it should be a bolt in change but

www.toyotadiesel.com would know for sure..

my japese 4runner has 4.88 gears stock and i have 31 inch tires.. i cant go above 120 KPH or ill be at like 4 grand rpm... so you might need gearing if you get tires that big.. the axles will handle them... but that engine is going to have enough trouble getting up to highway speeds as is id say...

my 2.4 2lt-e is a turbo version... its a pretty good engine that get a bad rap.. but for economy , parts availability and preformance a 22re gas might be the better choice...

this coming from a guy who sold 2 22re trucks and got the diesel.

OLDHILUX Compression for (1.L) Diesel

Compression pressure STD 30.0 kg/cm2 (427psi)
Limit 20.0 kg/cm2 (284psi)
Variation limit between cylinder: 5.0 kg/cm2 ( 71psi)

Stock gears on the LN46 are 4.88
gearing change maybe the way to go instead of motor change. Does this truck have 4speed or 5. Is it Left hand drive or Right.
32 inch tires should fit with no probelm.

Ln46 with 4 speed 4.88 and diesel are slow. but great for bigger tires and climbing. not sure what your looking to do. a 5speed and lower gears would be better for highway driving. would like to see some pictures of your rigs Mate.

Just my suggestion. Go with 3" lift. 33 inch tires. if you could get your hands on a 5 speed diesel trans. which is available in your country and maybe a set of 4.10 you would have a nice DD. that would cruise a lot faster. At highway speeds. is the diesel 1L in good shape.(runs good). Still want to see pictures. Thanks.
