kawasakilewis' 87 pickup build
#1
This is my first build up thread, ill jist give you some background info on me and my truck. I'm 17 years old and still in high school. i just bought this 87 and I'm trying to slowly build it up, but not dump too much into it. The truck is an 87 4x4 22r 5spd, bought it with all new pullies, head gasket, and top end gaskets. it also came with two starters, two fuel pumps, and extra carb (he replaced because it "hesitated when you stepped on it"), an extra alternator, and and extra complete rearend
here is the 87 with my 91 22re 2wd

After i few days i got some grey spray paint and scuffed and covered the surface rust to prevent the spread, here's a pretty good shot of the rust:

not too bad just surface rust mainly. now here is after my quick paint and my toolbox and cb:
since then i put on a new exhaust from the cat back i pieced together, put in a new air filter, did the dash led mod with some leftover bulbs from my 91, cleaned up the wheels a little, removed the swaybar, painted my bunpers, bed floor sides, and cut off the stupid fenders the guy had welded on the flatbed.:
sorry the door and stuff is muddy, i only washed the bumpers and stuff and paunted them at the time ha.
here's where it rained in my swamp and i got stuck in some
real thick mud, it don't look bad in the picture:

heres another muddy one:

heres two of my flex without the swaybar:

my future plans for it so far:
Some 31s or 33s, 2 1/2" or 5" lift, new front fenders, some o.d. green paint, a spool out back, andpossibly bob the bed.
that's all i got so far, i wanna see what you guys think.

Looking good.Looks like a great starter project to me.I'm really digging that bumper and brushguard on the front.I would bob the bed quiet a bit on it if you plan on doing any hardcore wheeling so that you will be able to climb steeper stuff without the bed driving into the ground and so on and so fourth.Best of luck on your build you picked a good one to start with.

I love my big bumper, and the bed actually only is about 2-3 inches longer than a regualr bed, but i would probably take it to about 6" behind the shackles, so i still have some bed space. thanks!

Ah ok makes sense because it looks longggg in the picture lol but i guess its where its a flat bed.Yea i don't blame you there it's always good to have bed space shoot i have a whole truck bed on mine and still don't have enough space.Seems like the more yota parts i start finding the less space i got to work with in the bed because i always run into a snag some wheres needing tools that i haven't bought yet thus resulting in no bed space because of tools lol.
