Just joined yotatech today...because I need help. My 91 toy v6 4x4 is cranking but not starting. There is no spark from the coil - ohms reading of coil is within spec. Next step I want to do is to check the ignitor. The ENGINE CHK light does not come on when ignition switch is in ON position.

Im sure you can check it with a multi-meter, But i dont know how. I know you can check them at parts stores for free. They hook them up to a machine.

 

There is no multi-meter check for the ignitor. http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995...e/onvehicl.pdf Personally, I've never heard of a parts store checking them, but if you can find one that would definitely be the way to go. (Once you've completed all the checks in the Manual.)

Ive never tested a toyota igniter. But ive tested chevys and hondas at parts store. Try taking it to a napa, oreileys, or something along those lines. They will probably take it to the back of the room and hook wires up to it.
