Anyone finished Cruise Control with 3.0 Motor Type?

Did a 3.4 swap last year and now getting around to wrapping it up. I've gotten EVERYTHING to work on the swap besides the cruise. I've searched around quite a bit on here and google and can't find anyone who has discussed it. Can someone chime in on what wires to connect to use the 3.0 cruise with the 3.4?

I've triple check my wires and have connections (as labeled on the cruise EWD) for:

OD
ECT
IDL
Data Link Connector

If I can get this working I'll add it into my swap thread for reference to others

Thanks,

Jesse

I haven't got to that yet. Looks like that's a separate ECU for the cruise stuff.

I'm pretty sure mine's wired up correctly, but I have not made a shorter cable yet so I can hook it up to test it out. It was very easy wiring IIRC. I'll try to remember to update when I get it working.

Anthony, yes it is a separate computer and the 3.0 cruise is still hooked into it. It should only need a few signal wires.

vasinvictor, do you remember did you only have those 4 wires? You know that you can swap over the 3.4 cable onto the 3.0 cruise and it fits VERY well!

Seems like you have to use the 3.4 cruise to get it to work properly.

With 3.4 cruise and the 3.0 cruise computer?

I thought I had heard of a person or two on here who got it with all 3.0

I'm pretty sure we used all the 3.4 cruise components on order to get it to work right.

Jon's the brains on all of the wiring. I'll ask him.

Jon said you gotta use all the 3.4 stuff or it wouldn't work right. Two different styles and sensors.

I know for a fact I used the 3.slow cruise module and computer and factory steering wheel buttons etc on my 3.4 swap in my 89 pickup, It has been like 8 years since I put it together....so I do not remember the details besides making a new bracket for the throttle body and I think I used a 4 cyl cable because it was longer and stretched to the throttle body...IIRC

Thanks for bringing this thread back up and letting us know I still haven't shortened my cable to try my cruise, there is a vacuum type cruise and electronic type. My 95 has electronic and there was only a couple wires that needed to be hooked up. Dang, Maybe this is the push I need to get it fixed finally.

Thanks for this reply! I modified the throttle body already and the 3.4 cruise cable works PERFECTLY on the 3.0 cruise module. If you have any information on how you did the wiring that would be very helpful. I guess I will have to go back through my wiring for the 3.0 cruise - 3.4 ECM and make sure everything is perfect.

See my comment above about the cable. My 95 also has electronic (as I think all did in that year). Be sure to post up if you get yours working properly.
