Sunk the Pickup in water, wont start...HELP!!!

Ok so im not a newb, but im no mechanic either here's what happened...I was on a friends property and tried to make it thru his mud hole, sunk the truck in 4 feet of water with a foot and a half in the cab, we got it out, i changed the oil and tried to drive it home, after about 10 miles, it made a loud noise, I thought I threw a rod, but tested compression and all the cylinders are fine. I have spark to the spark plugs, gas to the injectors, but no gas to the cylinders. If i have someone spray starter fluid in the throttle body it will start and run as long as they keep spraying, the computer is giving the following codes as well...3,5,10,12 ANY IDEAS?????

Its an 22re 86 ex cab pickup non turbo

check the afm. It sends a signal to the Cor to power the fuel pump.

I disconnected the fuel line going into the injector rail, and turned it over, and it blew fuel everywhere, i did the same thing on the fuel line going into the fuel filter, so that should mean the pump is working correct?

So you have fuel in the rail but no injector pulse is what I am gathering. If so, you need to make sure you have power to them and that the computer is grounding them, if you have no ground then either your ECM is out or a wire is broken. Check fuses and power and ground.

sounds like your ecm got wet and probally is bad. when you get it running again just to be on the safe side relocate your ecm up behind the glove box as high as you can to prevent it from getting flooded again. also check your valve train they dont like water and could of been the source of the loud bang.water can warp , crack , and bind valves causing them to stick open an crash on the piston. does the motor sound ok when you run it on starting fluid? careful with the fluid you can damage a motor with it. use gas in a spray bottle. be safe and has an exstingiser handy.

Good idea's. But you don't have to relocate your ECM just water proof it. I coated mine in that liquid rubber stuff then di-lectrical grease the plug in's. Ive had it submerged plenty of times and no probs. Edit: actually tested it by putting it in the sink with a rock on it for aboot 2 hours. No leaky But ya with out water proofing its toast if it gets wet.

My vote, you fried your ecm.

or no igf signal to ecu. thats what would happen to mine. 1-1/2' of water in the cab is a lot though. if my math is right thats about 1-1/2' of water on the ecu. betcha she cooked.

1-1/2' X 1-1/2' undo = to pie back to 1-1/2' sub category section B 1-1/2' to the seventh power of christ, plus one = 1-1/2'

Ya that checks out

ok so just looked at it for a short bit tonight, but i took apart the ecu, and its got quite a bit of corrosion, so im gonna try and clean that up and let it dry out and see what happens if no luck by friday ill just buy a new ecu and try that route considering the corrosion, thank s for the direction, ill post what i find in the next few days...yeah im water proofing it for sure!
