My friend messed my truck up

Hey everyone. My friend recently installed a sub and amp in my truck. When he was tightening the positive terminal on the battery, he hit the wrench on the body of the truck causing sparks to go everywhere, such an idiot, but anyways...we disconnected the Ecu several times and were able to get the truck to run, and it ran fine for a few days until today the battery died and I needed a jump. I got to my friends house and now i cant restart my truck. When I turn my lights on, I hear a ticking under the dash. What I want to know is what could he have screwed up? I'm thinking my battery is toast, or my Ecu. Anyone have any ideas?

Start by having the battery tested at a parts store. You need to establish whether or not the battery was damaged before you can start throwing darts at other potential fixes.

All the fuses are good. I'm taking the battery out and testing it for sure.

Toast ECU will not prevent your starter from turning over.

Good move

If battery's OK and charged, yet starter will still not turn over, search No Start threads.

Does your truck have an alarm? The clicking under the dash could be from a flasher relay in an alarm system.

check your fuseable link from your battery(usually a white wire) to your fuse box on fender.

Wink

This is why one always connects the negative cable last!!!!

One has to be really gifted to hit the positive cable with a wrench when connecting the ground.

Yeah I gave him hell for it. I took the battery out(optima red top) and tested that and it is good, bench tested the alternator and that is good as well. I disconnected the power to the sub and amp and everything works fine now.

That sounds like a headache and a half, glad to hear you're running again. May I humbly suggest letting a sound shop do your audio next time?
