22 RE air intake relocation idea; advice needed

So I've seen a lot of people swapping the sides of the air intake and the battery. I already install and '82 supra MAF in my Runner, but now I'm thinking about relocating it to the passenger side of the engine bay. I know the battery swap isn't that difficult, but I think I can fit mine in the empty space above the battery pretty easily, with a shorter filter than the one I have pictured. Let me know what you think of the placement of my filter, and if it will negatively interfere with anything. I think this setup would be nice because it would offer room to easily run a two battery setup or put anything on the driver's side open space in the engine bay. Also, I've heard that the MAF wiring can be run to the other side of the engine bay without extending the wires. If so, how can I easily do this? (pictures of how to do it would be greatly appreciated)

Cheers,
Andy

seem's like a better idea than moving everything around. also you could still run a snorkel, in the same direction for creek and river crossing. there's a couple spots at the local ohv park that i wont venture into w/o 1.

Here's the finished product. It works great and now the whole driver's side of my engine bay has been freed up.
