tightening belts

Hey, does anyone know how to tighten the belts on a '98 4Runner? I had the dealership install new ones(bad idea...its that dealership issue again) and they squeak now at about 1500-2000 RPM(especially on the highway while crusing).

You could take it back to the dealer and have them fix it....or you can get underneath your rig and look for the belt tensioners. All you have to do is tighten the nuts on the tensioners to tighten up the belt.

Be sure and loosen the pivot bolts on the AC/PS/Alt and the bolts that lock the tensioning screw before you tighten the belts. The power steering tensioning screw is PITA to get a wrench on.
