Should I purchase this Toyota? Swap frame or part-out?

Wasn't sure where to post this but anyway. I have a 1989 Toyota pickup. While searching for solid axles I came across a whole 1985 Toyota pickup that has a bad frame and I assume bad bed. He's asking $1400. It looks like the cab is in great shape and it looks like it has the fuel injected motor. What it be worth it to buy and part-out or try to swap frames. Can't imagine that being too easy. Just want to make sure I could get my money back out of this thing. It's also about 2 hours away. Thanks for the help

Ussuming your were looking for axles to sas your 89?

Honestly, id keep looking for an axle, and sas the 89 if its in good shape. The only part you would be able to use from the 85 is the axle itself. Then you be sellin the rest. You would still need different front leafs, high steer kit, probably gears (depending on your plans for the truck), any axle you get is probably gone need to be rebuild anyways, knuckles at minimum. So start with a donor axle, rebuild it, and you will have spent less then you would have if you bought that whole truck just for the axle that would still need rebuilding. You should be able to find an axle in good shape for around $300. To bad your so far away, I'm selling one but I'm in Washington State.

1400 is way to much for a junk truck. As a rule i try not to pay more than 500 for something that doesnt run and/or is not driveable. Let that dude part it out himself if he thinks its worth all that. If you get it and part it your the one that has to do all the work and deal with selling all of it.

Thanks for all the help! Right now I'm contemplating doing a sas on my truck. When I saw this truck I thought about just swapping the frame from another 85 but that would be too much work I suppose. Here's a link to that truck just for reference. http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/2903201413.html

Red face

That is way to much money I have a 83 with a 22r 5 speed the frame has the normal rust in front of the spring hangers.

Mine is promised But the price is $300.00 I am more than happy to see parts go on living

Unless the other truck Has a very fresh engine no way is it worth that much.:jessica:
