Loss of power uphill (troubleshooting help)

Ok so I have a 93 4runner with a 3vz-E(v6) engine. automatic. 4wd

A few weeks ago it started having trouble going uphill. Im talking it wont go over 15-30 mph on anything steeper than a few 5deg incline. It'll do this then suddenly full power will come back then a few seconds later it'll lose power again. pushing down on the accelerator does nothing when its doing this. no CEL.

Ive been trying to troubleshoot this for a few weekends now. I pulled codes and came back with nothing. So I downloaded the FSM and went through it looking for ideas.

so far I've checked the TPS, timing, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, distributor, coil, wires, plugs, EGR and i even tried a little voodoo ritual involving throwing chicken bones at it. still no luck.

Any of you had a similar experience or have any idea what else i should check?
Thanks in advance.

Well it sounds a little like electrical. Did the transmission kick down? to a lower gear? what does the transmission do when this is happening?
