sudden power loss

Driving the other day and suddenly there was no power for a split second then the engine kicked back in again. I am wondering whether the coil pack is getting towards the end of it's life. I don't want to start changing bits unless it is necessary. It has done it about 10-12 times now, at random intervals.
Plugs are good (gaps are ok) it's not missing, distributor & rotor arm are ok, just a sudden complete loss of power
Any input would be appreciated
Thanks

Fuel delivery problem maybe?? Do you still have electrical(ie.dash lights and guages) when it happens?

Yes all the normal stuff still works. I have had this happen when I am running on Petrol or LPG, so therefore I can only assume it is an electrical fault starting at the coil as there is no intermittent miss firing
