Busted Pistons 1972 FJ40 F Engine

Hello fellow Cruiser owners! i am a long time owner of a 1972 FJ40 that I resurrected from the ash heap while a missionary in Haiti in 1988. I have rebuilt EVERYTHING on this Cruiser! After completely rebuilding the engine (F) bored 40, new EVERYTHING, deck resurfaced, etc. I blew #1 & #2 pistons at 10,000 miles. No marks of any kind on piston tops or bottom of head. So, put new, better pistons in all six holes. At 8,500 miles I blew #1 piston in same fashion, busted apart around the rings (top comes off). No indication that #2 was even thinking about busting. I checked compression ring end gaps and it is wide at .025 the full length of all the holes (.008 to .016 is normal). I am at a loss what might be the problem or the fix. HELP!! Thanks.
