94 truck 22re, temp gauge not working? new owner

94 truck 22re, temp gauge not working? new owner

I just bought a 94 4x4 truck. it is all stock, 22re. temp gauge is not working and the truck idles at 1200 hot or cold. I put a new thermostat in today and found out it did not have a stat in. still same problem with gauge and idle. can someone please help?

Make sure you give it time to get warm. Did you burp your coolant system?

Ground the sensor throu a test light or something that has resitance. That will tell you if your wiring is good. Once grounded it should raise to the H really fast.

it was the sensor, put a new one in and temp gauge works. I did a full tune up, turns out timing was way off, and now the truck run's great. thanks for your help TylerH
