I've got a 84 ex cab with a 22re swap and just wondering if I did the gauge swap with an 84 sr5 gauge cluster if the knock sensor would still work? I didn't know if it was just for the 22re which I thought, I was just checking.

The knock sensor should only talk to the ECU. I dont see where it would be affected by the gauges, other than the combo meter(instrument cluster) wouldnt have a check engine light as the 22RE gauge cluster would. It may have the provisions for it though (blank place for bulb placement). I have an 84 22R, and I am doing the 3RZ swap, so I will have to see if there are provisions for a CEL or if I will have to install a CEL(indicator) somewhere remote.
