Funksrunner 1994 4Runner SR5 3Vze Build Up Thread

I've been a serial lurker around these parts for quite a while now. I finally past my 15 post marker and figured I'd take the opportunity to document my own "build". This may or may not prove useful to others as I have limited mechanical experience, hate paying shop labor charges, and tend to attempt projects beyond my resources and knowledge, and as such much of this thread will be a collection of my fumbling and bumbling failures en-route to what typically winds up being a simple solution which I overlooked.

Little history to start off:
I bought my '94 4Runner SR5 3.0 4x4 Automatic (only regret on the purchase is that it is not a stick) in November of 2006 with 97k miles on it. I drove it as my DD for about 3 years with no real work done to it and no major problems. In 2009 the nose gear more or less disintegrated and sharded off into the rear end rendering my 3rd member dead in the water. For financial reasons and the fact that at the time I was driving a company service van, the Runner sat for 2 years unattended, un-started, untouched. For my birthday in march of 2011 my family pulled together and replaced my busted rear end with an Auburn auto locker (don't know the actual model/details off hand, will edit in later).

Here she is as she stood in April of 2011

rear window

My first real undertaking (done in april 2011, same time as above pics) was an issue with the rear window... It fell at random, wound up being the brackets had rusted to next to nothing.
I picked up a couple new brackets new rubber inserts from my local dealer relatively cheap. Popped off the interior trim, plastic molding atop the tailgate, and internal metal guard, and slid the window out with ease.
the rusted old brackets:

a few shots of the inner tailgate before reinstallation:

new brackets:

I spent about an hour trying to get the new brackets onto the window lubing it up with dish soap, pushing, prying, tapping... no luck. Broke down and went to a local mobile glass shop searching for answers. No joke the guy honestly told me to hit it harder with a bigger hammer. I took him at his word.
Mr. Window,

meet Mr. Mallet

several nail bitingly hard swings later and the brackets slid into place. Maneuvered the new brackets back onto the arms working the motor up and down for clearances. Had to manually trigger the locking mechanism on the motor mount to allow me to roll up and down the window motor arms with the key in the tailgate as the window motor will not turn unless the tailgate is locked.

Nothing crazy or anything, just a little maintenance, and an eye opening look into the vast array of rust on my mid-western truck.
