91yotasteve 1991 pickupex cab build-up thread
Hello all Toyota lovers, I bought my rig almost a year ago and only recently found out about yotatech
Ive done a fair amout of work on it myself and thought if I could start my own thread that I could get some feedback and some ideas so i can make it a yotatech worthy rig.
some pics of the day i bought it

yucky rusty tailgate, from a canopy that didnt fit, i bought a pain pen and made quick use of it, you can also see where the canopy wore around the cab, ill add photos of that too.
ANYWAYS
the ever growing to do list
e-brake----check
idler arm---check
sway bar---check
starter---check
deck---check
CV joints---check
removed ugly side steps---check
fix fog lights---check
new lightbulbs---check
new seats
new suspention
2.5 inch lift
new front bumper
winch
rear bumper
more lights
custom tire rack
chop bed/move tailgate short box
ARB roof tent
and much more
open to creative ideas
---cheers---steve

Alrighty now to add all the work ive done, nothing major, dont have the time, space or money for that yet...
First thing i did on the truck after i got it inspected was to fix my e-brake

way to go dad on buying me jackstands!!!
Removed both wheels and removed both of my drum housings(sorry pretty new at automotive lingo)

My passenger side drum was stuck on, but thanks to my haynes manual i was able to spin the star nut, and remove it (hence the bent flathead screwdriver)

next to do was to replace my broken sway bar and replace my idler arm.
there was alot of rattling in my front end when i first bought it i checked it out and found that my sway bar end links were worn out and my sway bar could pretty much move freely up and down
this is my first vehicle that i have worked on myself and im already addicted, so bear with me, im a bit of a newbie.
went to the wreckers here in victoria, corvette auto holdings are very helpful.

this is how i bought my idler arm, gross but solid, cleaned it up as well as a used sway bar, both pieces are off a 1991 4-runner, i like the 4-runners idler arm because it had a grease nipple on the bottom, unlike the pickup.

much better

just to let you newbs like me know, some grease will eat through grommets like the ones shown so i bought some multi purpose lithium grease, seems like thats what people use on these things.
also in the pic you can see that i got a reverse bit to drill out my bolts that were holding my sway bar in place, they broke when i was trying to remove them

old and new sway bar end links

all cleaned up
