Antifreeze leak? Mix? 2000 4runner 5VZE

I came out other morning and found a spot under my 2000 4runner sr5 5VZE Manual 140,000 miles on it. The spot was green in color but when I put it on my finger it felt oily. I drove it about 10 min's away seemed to drive fine.

On my way home, for about 5-10 seconds it made a loud air release noise.

I got underneath the truck today and saw lots of wet on almost everything from underneath.... it was puddling in the shield and dripping on the driveway. The actual wet stream leads up on the passenger side of the engine. I can't quite tell for sure where the leak has come from because there is a good bit of stuff wet. When I touch the fluid today, it looks almost as if oil and antifreeze have mixed, a yellowish brown color dripping off of stuff.

The coolant container beside the radiator is completely empty.

Suggestions?

I'll have my mech look at it but should I even drive it to him?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

Start with the easy stuff and then go from there:

- Radiator hose burst
- Radiator burst
- Waterpump sprung a leak
- Failed head gasket

You might be able to pressurize your radiator and track down the leak.

My mech says it's the water pump....

He wants 600 bucks to replace it... ?

What else should be done when the water pump is replaced? Timing Belt, Thermostat?

I think the timing belt was done around 80,000 if I'm not mistaken, but I'm guessing it wouldn't hurt to have it done since he's already in there?

edit: Just got off phone with dealership, they recommend to replace those things I listed plus the drive belts while in there. They wanted 895.00....

Do I need to use OEM parts or can I use another brand?

Good places to get the parts from?

I'm doing searches on here and finding some stuff but not all the specifics... diggin....

found this it gives me part numbers and what he paid for his parts...

I bought my toyota parts at www.1sttoyotaparts.com.
I bought my OEM parts at www.carpartsdiscount.com.
Except the OEM waterpump I bought at www.rockauto.com

The prices may have changed since I did the write-up.
