5sp swap.. no 4wd indicator/ back-up lights

The truck is an 88 xtra cab. I swapped out the automatic for a w56, everything works except the reverse lights and 4wd indicator. I have searched the forums but can't find this exact situation.

The switch out of the transfer case has two blue wires leading to a connector that is just dangling for now. Under the hood I have a bundle of unused wiring and connectors from the auto. I have the complete FSM for my truck but can't figure out the wiring. I figured I could splice into the correct wires to make everything functional. Is this right? Anyone one what color is what?

Thanks for any help! I'm new to the site but now that I've converted to Toyota I'll be around a lot...

theres a wireing dangleing from the t-case, that connects from a wire (cant remember which) thats your 4wd light and the reverse light there is a plug on the side of tranny behind the slave cylinder, those control your reverse lights, i never hooked mine up bc frankly i didnt care, my 4wd light works though, goodluck!

I know where the switches are for both, I just don't know how to tie it into the old harness from the automatic. I need someone that knows the wiring or can read the diagram better than me.

im not sure if the wiring might be close or not but when i did mine in my 91 i had the same issue, i have a write up on it that might help a little but wire colors might be a little different and that, but if u look at the wiring for yours and mine u should be able to figure it out.

ok so after looking at wire diagrams it looks like a red/red-lavender is for the reverse lights. and those will need to go in to the wires that feed the switch on the trans. and for the 4wd wires im not seeing where they are in the wiring diagrams

The extra wires I have from the auto are on top of the passenger fenderwell near the intake, that where you were talking about? I will look for red/red lavender there. Just asking cause looked like your pics are under the truck.

yeah i took the plugs from the auto trans and cut them off and ran the wires down now mine is also a 91 so things could be diffrent, u need to see look at the auto transfer case and see what items it has on it, like is there one for pressure switch to tell it that the trans is in gear to switch to 4wd, the 91s did and also in the 91 it also had a switch on the suto trans too not just the transfer case. then u have the switch for when its in 4hi or lo so it knows when to be in 4wd. but now with an 88 it might not have a couple of the switches my rig had. but i couldnt find a good diagram to see if i could read it better to help u find the right wires for sure.

Sounds like we have different situations. I have the complete FSM and I can see wires for the 4wd indicator and their colors, it's just that I'm just a novice with wiring. Hopefully someone can decipher it for me.
