5VZ-FE installing oil pressure guage

I want to install an aftermarket oil pressure guage in my 4runner, where on the engine can I access an oil pressure reading?

The sender for the idiot light is towards the front of the motor on the driver's side, behind the alternator.

To add a gauge, you would have to remove that and lose your idiot light, or get a "Y" adapter to run both.

I believe there is a plugged off port above the stock sending unit. But may be wrong. If not, ditch the stock one, and pull the dummy light bulb out of the dash.

you shouldn't have to pull the light. I wont come on when you unplug the wire from the sending unit as nothing is being "sent" to turn it off

There are a few extra oil ports next to the oil filter. They have lugs int hem from the factory. Just pop them out and put the sensor wherever you want. The ports are 3.8" so you will need an adapter. I have both my oil pressure and oil temp sensor in those ports.

No pictures but just get under there and look at the oil filter. There are a few allen bolts below it. Take them out and use an adapter to install the sensor. I have both the pressure and temp installed there.

Any chance of a link to the 3/8s adapter that you are referring to?

I got mine at home depot. Just your basic 3/8 NPT to 1/4 NPT adapter.

I think technically it is a BST (SP?) thread but the NPT works fine with some teflon tape.

I buy the Metric adapter kits from Summit Racing

I am not real sure but I think it is a M10x1 thread off the top of my head.

which the adapter takes to pipe thread that most gauge installation kits thread into

It is a BSPT. You won't have a problem using NPT until something like 25 threads deep. Picture of where one port is:
