which wires are what? i've searched a bit but one place says 1 thing the other says something different 86 pickup 4x4

 

yesterday i realized the factory radio had a triple ground. which was causing my ing fuse to blow when i turned the key, keeping the starter from getting power.... got rid of it.

everything else is speaker wiring except for those 3 left. which one does red,yellow,black go to .

 

i thought blue/yello or Blue/blue was 12 constant and green is 12 switched. brown is ground

 

this is getting annoying. manual says gray is 12c brown is ground. pink,purple,blue,green for front speakers. wired it up that way it came on truck started and then i cut it off. go to enlarge the plastic liner come back out plug it back in and it wont start. but still has power every where. thought this was fixed. took out cd player unhooked the wiring nada. anybody have any ideas why. all fuses are good

 

do you have a multi meter? if so test the wires, they will let you know which does what. ground doesnt matter, you can make your own. screw a self tapper with a star washer into a good spot of bare metal, if no bare metal is present, scrape some to bare metal and tap ground there. as for the constant and switched, you can just go directly to the ignition harness if you feel comfortable. just be sure to fuse all power wires from the ignition harness to the radio. if that is the route you want to go, you need to find the white, or white with red stripe for constant power. tap into the black with yellow stripe for switched power.

I just ran my own wires. got rid of the stock speakers and replaced them with some new Memphis speakers. what ever the problem is im just going to leave it everything else works and the cd player isn't worth screwing up the rest.

 

I'm pretty sure that the brown wire is the dimming ground for the illumination...

 

when i did mine, i only used the ignition wire and constant 12v got rid of all the stock crap and ran all new wires i had to drill holes in the drivers door cause i would of had to take the dash all apart put rubber gromets in and the speaker wire slides in the cab when you close the door works great, easier to get too if it cuts it also.
