I have a 3vze in my 92 auto 4runner and it started knocking. I thought about the 3.4L swap but the cost is high and I am not that mechanically inclined. If I were to purchase a different 3vze what would I need to look for? Right now I am looking at a 3vze from a 94 runner. Would the engine have to come from an automatic as well? Anything else I would have to do to swap it in?

u can use one from a truck too. if u just use all the sensors from ur motor u will be fine with one from any auto or manual trans. and i do beleive u can use one from 89 to 95 with your sensors and intake set up.

 

Somebody is listing a 3vze with 90k miles on it for $800. They said they got it from a junkyard and it ran when the picked it up. The price seems pretty high what do you guys think I should offer? Also, what sort of inspection should I do when I go and look at it? I need to know everything beforehand because it is about a 3 hour drive away.

 

i would pull one or two plugs and see what they look like make sure water has not got into the motor also see how dirty"oily" things look that will tell u if it had leaks
