Death Valley 10/2011

Just got back from my first trip to Death Valley. Amazing views, some good off roading and a lot of fun.

We took 190 to Saline Valley Rd. Wound our way up and down to Lippencott 4x4 trail, to the Racetrack Playa. We then continued to Ubehebe crater, Scotty's Castle and Furnace Creek.

Campsite 1st night - Just along Saline Valley Rd.

Saline Valley Rd.

Trail Rated Ram?

Brother-in-law's Rubicon

Panamint Valley Dunes from Saline Valley Rd.

We found water... it was almost shocking - although you're pretty high up on Saline Valley Rd.

Having Fun

Heading down into the Saline Valley

Wide angle of the Saline Valley

Sign denoting Lippencott Pass turnoff... desert style

The road to Lippencott

At the top - I didn't actually get any photos going up Lippencott - my frind has a video - I'll see if I can get it.

255,000mi on the clock and still going

Racetrack Playa

How the rocks really move...

Close up of the dry flat surface

The number 7

Can wind really move this?

Teakettle Junction - you could have probably just read the sign

Ubehebe Crater - I wasn't very excited to see this - but as it turns out it's very cool. The size was unbelievable and the colors were amazing. The pictures do not do this justice.

Looking Down from "Little Hebe"

Getting Hot

Campsite Day 2

Badwater Basin - Low and Hot

Walking out onto the salt bed

Sea Level is the white spec in the middle of the frame

Planking may be out - but below sea level planking? Lowest Man in America.

On the way out - we are planning on another trip sometime - too much ground to cover in a short trip.

Awesome looking trip and I like the looks of your runner. Ive got a 91 that is about to get a 2" BJ/Springs.

I was wondering what front bumper/lightbar that is? Looks really good.

I really don't know who made it - the previous owner put it on. I'd like to get rid of it frankly. I would like to place lights up top for better visibility. The current set up works great right in front of you but doesn't have much range.
